Volunteer with us

To apply for any of the volunteer positions below, please fill in our application form here.

  • Welcome all members and visitors to Share Bristol during opening hours
  • Be part of a team looking after our Things
  • Put new Things onto our online catalogue or update the information about them
  • Oversee the Things being lent out returned by members
  • Be confident on a computer and in using our LendEngine database (training is provided)
  • Test out donated Things before they make it into our catalogue or as they return from being borrowed. Think tents, sewing machines, power drills, saws, popcorn makers.
  • Make notes of your experience (think of it as a review) and also anything that doesn’t work, needs repairing, or is slightly quirky – so we can fix it or recycle it to ensure we only provide Things in good working order to our members.
  • If you have the experience, you can fix or repair donated things that have been tested and have faults reported. Think electronics, replacing batteries, sewing, finding spare parts.
  • Then, when in good working order, all Things will need cleaning ready for their photo shoot or their next borrow!
  • Scheduling posts, reels and stories on our various social media channels tailored to the relevant platform.
  • Monitoring activity and responding to comments on social media channels
  • Writing and creating social media content, ensuring it complies with internal branding requirements, policies and guidelines
  • Creation of engaging content. This could include taking photos and videos in the libraries,  development of resources on canva, writing posts and more
  • Promotion of events and campaigns such as fundraising and special events
  • Looking for individuals with some experience or high level of interest in developing skills within social media
  • Assisting with the physical setup and tidying up of an event space.
  • Support/Lead in the running of the event ensuring it runs smoothly
  • Acting as a friendly face for Share Bristol
  • Engaging with attendees to share information about Share Bristol’s mission, the benefits of borrowing instead of buying, and how to become a member.

Information to follow

fixer

Whether you want to volunteer during our Library and Community Hub opening hours or would prefer something more behind the scenes, are local to Share Bristol Kingswood, Bedminster or Frenchay or live further afield, we have roles that may suit you.

We’ve grouped these roles into different volunteer opportunities, and you are welcome to do more than one. And everyone can share ideas on how to make Share Bristol even better.

Share Bristol is for the benefit of all the community in Bristol, for everyone, and we will welcome anyone from the community volunteering with us, with the exception of those under 18 years old.

Our volunteer partnership agreement tells you how we promise to support and value you, and what we expect from you.
